Jangbalajugbu Poem by David Adeyemo

Jangbalajugbu

We were three best friends
In the days when I was a child
We would play until mama calls
Until the moonlight goes to sleep
Singing a song Jangbalajugbu
As taught by elders of our land

We were three best friends
As known as the cowries
We would dance to the Bata sound
Talking riddles and cracking jokes
Singing a song Jangbalajugbu
As taught by elders of our land

We were three best friends
When the world was at peace
All will congregate under the tree
And wrestle in a wrestling bout
Singing a song Jangbalajugbu
As taught by elders of our land
