The Bloodrose

The Bloodrose Poems

the angel knelt in solemn prayer
with darkest wings and darkest hair
his eyes aglow in starless nights
yes, there will be blood tonight
...

Watch me play and watch me dance,
Hung up by the wires
Your little puppet, your marionette
Your handling I require
...

Pretty blue jay, flighty bird
With eyes so bright and wings so fair
But not a twitter heard
Not a sound you do declare
...

twisting snakes and devils red
only images trapped in your head
illusions, illusions, don’t listen to them
only to you, these things they condemn
...

A spoof of Edgar Allan Poe's poem 'The Bells'

See the graveyard with the bones
White bones
...

I lie in my field of paper roses
All so perfect, lovely, white
Pure and simple, tall and charming
Delicate, their stems so slight
...

here i am, forever lost
traveled circles, criss-crossed
i walk along this silent road
this path i take i run alone
...

Avenging Angel

the angel knelt in solemn prayer
with darkest wings and darkest hair
his eyes aglow in starless nights
yes, there will be blood tonight

he rises up with sword in hand
dark and ominous, he stands
his saber glinting in moonlight
yes, there will be blood tonight

watching now with piercing eyes
his tongue slick with unspoken lies
bracing mind, he runs to fight
yes, there will be blood tonight

his horse astride, his sword held high
he bellows glory to the sky
the townspeople begin their plight
yes, there will be blood tonight

soaring now into the air
with darkest wings and darkest hair
he dives, his face a horrid fright
yes, there will be blood tonight

our avenging angel, cool and clear
inspiring the blackest fear
with darkest wings he has taken flight
yes, there had been blood tonight
