Paper Petals Poem by The Bloodrose

Paper Petals

Rating: 5.0

I lie in my field of paper roses
All so perfect, lovely, white
Pure and simple, tall and charming
Delicate, their stems so slight

But perfect beauty has its flaws
Spindly twigs so gladly break
The storm is nigh, the winds are strong
The thunder howling in its wake

My roses tremble, white stalks shaking
Petals flying in the wind
But the darkness is upon us
Let the turbulence begin

The rain hammers down, water drumming
Chasing away my paper rose
Their petals gone, their hollow cores
White skeletons lying in repose

But my flowers, they were made of nothing
That which I cherished and held dear
Only nothing, empty promise
Taken by the heavens tear

So the lesson here, you see my friend
Never rely on your flowers
Built on nothing, so easily gone
Maybe build some stronger towers

the message is hard to pick out... do you think you know what it means?

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

what i got from this is.. friends or family you thought you could rely on, thought they would always stand by you.. something bad happens or you go through something hard, and they arent strong enough to stand beside you and leave you because they are scared or don't want to deal with you, leaving you alone yet again.. so in the end the only person you can truly rely on, the only person you can truly trust is yourself.... whether im right or wrong this poem is written beautifully
