Don’t Cry Poem by Midifo Yearns

Don’t Cry

Don’t cry little boy, I see your pain
your little face distraught, caught
between brave stand and broken heart
all alone, afraid, abandoned and ashamed
don’t know where to turn, pains like real burn.

I know. Trapped by others needs and fears
Don’t cry little boy, I see your tears
solitary figure alone in the rain
sad eyes, sad life, sad longing
brave heart, stubborn will, strong arm.

Please don’t cry little boy
your pain eats my heart and breaks
through all the years spent trying
to please, to satisfy, to ease a way
that somehow hides my dying

Come close little boy and let me hug,
embrace and love you, wipe away
your tears and fears and lonely heart.
Don’t cry little boy, come home
your life is, and will forever be, poignant poem.

Don’t cry. Not tonight. Don’t cry
for years not yet begun, for times ill spent
daggers that wound, loneliness that eats
your childlike, hopeful dreams
don’t cry little boy, don’t cry.

Your tears, too much to bear
scream into the night of every day
all I have is just this friendship hand
to take your fragile life and bathe
in light your brave and subtle stand.

Don’t cry little man, you’ll make it
I know you can. Don’t cry.
