All Through The Night Poem by Ernestine Northover

All Through The Night

Rating: 5.0

With air so still, no breeze around,
a storm was brewing, somewhat near.
Not a whisper crept o’er the ground,
just eerie silence, fraught with fear.

Birds ceased their singing, creatures fled,
knowing that something might ensue.
Rumbling was heard, causing such dread,
one sky with stealth, much darker grew.

The landscape stood out harsh and bleak,
lightning bolts pierced the firmament.
Torrential rain in sheets so freak,
came crashing down when clouds gave vent.

All through the night the tempest roared,
pelting the earth with potent force.
And on and on the deluge poured,
as it continued on its course.

When all was spent the sun did rise,
reflecting on a wet terrain.
Then as land ultimately dries,
life thus returns to its domain.

Ernestine, you've captured the fury of a thunder storm with gusto within the imagery you have presented to us here. It has the WOW factor as you can visualise it as you read. Top marks and thanks for sharing this my friend. David

Oh, brilliantly eloquently depicted E. And of course with my non-poetic spirit when it started thundering here a while ago I just thought, 'oh pants'. t x

You capture the drama of the elements with great charisma in this wonderfully lyrical poem. Your poem traces the course of the storm from the pp stillness of the before through the fff of the climax to the pp beauty of the aftermath. One of your best. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Thundery here today, Ernestine. Your poem described well what I have been watching. Love the land returning to 'its domain'. F
