Words Composed Upon A Winters Morn' Poem by Rick Rambus

Words Composed Upon A Winters Morn'

oh so often
in heated
childish aggravation
words are said
that are not meant
and hurt filled accusations
thrown at those
for whom we care the most
I think that to apologise
is worthless at this stage
in this sickening childish rage
I built a cage between us
that can not now be broken down
here I sit a hate struck lover
swirling the words of animosity
through my contaminated brain
emotion has been
drained from me
a friendship once
is now disdain

in my purest heart of hearts
the flame has been extinguished
that once
so strongly burnt for thee
go gentle
into the raging night
oh former confidant
with the one that stole the heart
that once I held so sacred
close to mine
and may the angels shine on thee
and protect thee
with the stones
may happiness follow thee
and guard thine weary bones
for I have wronged thee
in my undiluted jealousy
and treated thee oh fairy queen
like a slave of leprosy
out into the darkness now
I cast thee to roam
without a shackled soul
to make a new beginning
in another's heart of hearts
