Memories Regarding A Girl Poem by Rick Rambus

Memories Regarding A Girl

i'm sitting here
in my cold bedroom
typing silly little poems
on my competer
and i'm thinking now
of you
i wonder
what you are doing now
i wonder
where you are
i wonder
if you are drinking wine
or if you are sad and
all alone tonight.

driving on the highway
the other day
i thought i saw your car
turns out though it was just
a figment of a joyful memory.
i remember
all those nights we sat together
and drank red wine
and talked and laughed
about silly things
and watched the football on tv
at the sandy pub
and i remember e-mail fights
and awkward silences
filled with sadness
and little boy apologies
i think of all those mornings
walking dogs in the backyard of the shelter
and puppies being born.

i remember still
how you looked
that day i went away
a picture perfect dream
in slippers and a night gown.

and upon my face i develop a frown of longing.
