Wonder Poem by Abbie Jensen

Wonder

Rating: 5.0

I like to look up at the sky
and just wonder how planes fly
Or where bees carry their honey
and why it never goes bad

I wonder who came up with words
and how they fit them into sentences
I wonder who invented punctuation
and why they enjoyed thinking about something so dull

I wonder why you can never see wind
And it still has effect on everything we do
I wonder why I love to watch the trees sway
As if they are dancing to the music of nature

I wonder why music is always my escape from this world
And why it calms me down
I wonder why the beat of the drum and the violins
Seem to work together to fill my body with relief

I wonder about the lines on my hands
wondering when they will eventually fade
I wonder about tomorrow's date
and what I will do with my precious time.

I wonder about the mysteries of tomorrow
and what choices I will make
I wonder if those choices will affect me
and those around me

I wonder why people act the way they do
Completely oblivious to other people's emotions
I wonder why we take what we want
Without processing what we are doing

I wonder if there is anything else to this life
than to watch those lines on my hands fade
I wonder what I can do to make my tiny mark
on this big world

I wonder about the stars
and the many mysteries they hold
I wonder about the light they radiate
affecting those around them

I wonder if the words I write
will have meaning in the future

One can only wonder.
