Why I Carry A Gun Poem by Randy McClave

Why I Carry A Gun

Why do I carry a gun
It is because I'm afraid of everyone,
And because I do not know how to fight
And because it's my constitutional right.
I like to carry it on the street
But, of course I am not ever discreet,
I want everyone to know there is a thrill
When you intimidate, or even kill.
There might be a bad person up ahead
Who might want me, or maybe you dead,
From conformation I will not ever abstain
I want to be another John Wayne.
Immigrants have come to our land
I am now conditioned to take the law in my hand,
So, now I am ready and I am prepared
I am heavily armed, I declared.
I always wear my gun upon my hip
Where it is easily reached with my gunfighters grip
It's clean and it's loaded to fire
So, think twice or you'll be preaching to the choir.
Though I am heavy and normally a coward
I am now strengthened and powered,
No one will ever again snicker or give me the boot
Because, I can easily pull a trigger and shoot.
Women will now see me as powerful and brave
A reputation I do desperately crave,
So, why do I carry a gun
Because, I will not compromise, or run.
