Why Poem by robert delucchi

Why

WHY

Just look through the
mists of a battle
see the twisted forms
the unseeing eyes
that stare blankly
into the cobalt sky
distorted mouths
scream soundlessly
WHY?

it's on these dead
that you say
the stones of future
peace will lay
they were cut down
in their prime and youth
and died for another
twisted truth
but still we fight
and defend your dreams
yet we fail to see
that we're just fools
to live and die
obeying your rules

why do'nt we take
a lesson from the dead
and thats not to follow
our heart
but follow
our head
and ask before we volunteer to die
just one question
and that is................WHY?

Wow, this a very powerful write, I often ask WHY, the craziness of killing each other demands the question WHY?

How many times have I asked the question 'Why'? How often has it got me into trouble? But we have to ask it and what better way than tthrough your pen. I am taking so much flack on my latest poem on the internet..you may enjoy it. Cheers Alf

Powerful, passionate and very true. If lessons aren't learnt then whats the point of struggle. Global Pacifism maybe. Great poem. I'm new on here look me up some time Steve
