Nuclear Sunrise Poem by robert delucchi

Nuclear Sunrise

Rating: 5.0

Nuclear Sunrise

Stunned silence from the crowd
As the news reader screams out loud
This is the day
The world wouldn’t listen to what
Each other had to say

Who was first he shouts and yells
To ignore those early warning bells
But wait
Hold back your mortal fear
Perhaps you can hear those growing sounds
Or even feel the trembling ground
Just look to the sky
Perhaps you can see them
Swarms of Pershings and ICBM’s

Run helter skelter
For the fall out shelter
But what’s the use
They’ve lit the fuse
And Europe dies
Bombarded by the Cruise

Burning flesh
And dying people
Nuclear sunrise
Nuclear dawn
Mankind has been here
Now he’s gone

The many advances we have made in science, medcine and technology, help to make our lives more comfortable, but we still design weapons of mass destruction. Mans greatest failure is his seeming inability to stop going to war. You have described quite vividly what might happen if we don't. 10/10
