While Lying In A Bed Of Sickness Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

While Lying In A Bed Of Sickness

Rating: 5.0

I capture the glimpses of many
They come one by one or together
And ask me how are you
And I smile and tears roll down
For I think how much they care
May be a little or more
But at this point of time they matter
My father is no more
Yet he comes daily
My mother, tired and worn
And shrunken into half her figure
May be as good as a little finger
For to me it seems
And it seems
When she moves
She moves with fairy feathers
And sometimes I wonder
Is she my mother or an angel
When she comes
She comes like summer
And sprinkles me
With many a sanctified and cool shower
Like, have trust, God is great and long live
Not less than a century or so
And in between curses the devil
And cuddles and caresses and strokes my hair
Softer home to heaven
And my sisters, brothers, wife, sons and daughters
They all are silent wishers
For their eyes speak a lot
Oh! their loyalty, love and affection
Wish i could understand them
And my friends
They come with tulips and roses
Along fun, words and wishes
They are like health tonics
When i sip them
They turn out to be nectar
Brimming they look like tears
Oh! such a big congregation
Looks like not less than a temple
All are but for one thing
Assembling to see my wellness and wellbeing
Then I get up to join them
As happy and healthy soul
But still I think
Even if I die
I shall sleep with tulips clad
And death with lilies beside

What a wonderful poem. It brought tears to my eyes and warmth to my heart. A very moving and touching poem.that captures love, loyalty and affection among members of family and friends. Yes, .the love of our nearest and dearest will strengthen and uplift our spirit to conquer sickness. And even if we face death, with the love that our loved ones we can courageously meet our Creator.
