Where Would You Drive? Poem by Amy J Richardson

Where Would You Drive?

I'd drive away, just away,
With nowhere to stop and nowhere to stay,
Away from the darkness, away from the pain,
Away from humanity, away from the shame.
I'd let the road take me a million miles or more,
As long as it's not one I've been down before.
On my journey I'd search for anywhere new,
Where I could empty my mind and absorb the view,
Then continue my drive, as the road does wind,
For the further I go, the more's left behind,
And if time allowed, this journey would last
'Til the end of my days, 'til that shadow is cast.
I'd just drive far away, into the distance elope,
With nought in my hand but my love and my hope.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was the response that that came out of my mind when asked 'If you could drive anywhere right now, where would you go? '... It just so happened to come out in poet form.

The poem could potentially be summarised by the 1st and last line which is good to see you're driving and writing with continuity of thought. And it's unfair that you can use 'end-of-tether' language without sounding pretentious.
