Amy J Richardson Poems

I sit alone, it's all too much,
Why can't i just be dead,
I need to free the hurt inside,
So I cry my tears of red.
...

I'd drive away, just away,
With nowhere to stop and nowhere to stay,
Away from the darkness, away from the pain,
Away from humanity, away from the shame.
...

Into the field I walk at night
To pick a single blade of grass,
And under the eyes of a thousand stars
I look to the moon and ask,
...

All above the world
From where the light shines down,
And the planes fly through the clouds
That are gloomy grey and brown.
...

The little boy runs with his toy
and smiles
That boy could fun for miles
and miles,
...

Chop the apples
carrots and oranges
give scraps to the dog that begs,
add monkey nuts
...

The axe cracks dully into the horse's head,
It's gruesome but the lions need to be fed.
We swing and we hack and we hack 'til it's through,
Through skull and through jaw 'til that head is in two.

Photograph.
Snapshot.
A moment frozen on film.
Held still.

They are deep,
but not deep enough,
the blackness is still within.
The crimson pours,

The window grill shadows are suddenly prison bars in my mind.
But I like the smell of my freshly cut flesh
I like the blood
The open wound
...

There are such things in this world,
Evil
Sinister
Shadowy
...

There are too many of us out there like this.
It is heartbreaking.
But what choice have we, when
inside, our souls are crying
...

There's a mushroom on a hill,
Or a toadstool of kind,

She sits, and she stares,
Growing tired and thin,
A war of emotions,
Enveloped in skin.
...

I dreamt of a beautiful woman,
She was clothed in silken white,
And shimmering all around her,
Was a gentle love - filled light.

In life I’ll succeed, with vigorous passion,
My mind is far from serene.
I’ll fight to fulfil my destiny’s wish,
For I have a passion to dream.

In the dark, the floor is made of spiders,
Even little bugs, just like gliders.
Oh dear I’m scared of the dark,
Especially at night time, deep in the park.

Stuck on an island,
All alone.
Cold and frightened,
Thinking of home.
...

I quiver through the sky,
Alone and vulnerable.
A fairy with a feather-light soul.
Yet I am content,

His wings of jade and amber,
Wink, like gilt pennants in the sun.
Oh why butterfly?
Just flutter on by.

Amy J Richardson Biography

Hello, I am not a poet, I merely write down the words and emotions that assemble themselves in my head occasionally. I write them as a release (hence why many are quite dark) and only hope that one day I might produce something truly awe inspiring. Even if I fail at this, there is always Hope.)

Tears Of Red

I sit alone, it's all too much,
Why can't i just be dead,
I need to free the hurt inside,
So I cry my tears of red.

I watch the blood flow thick and fast,
As I cut deeper every day,
I open up my body,
To bleed my pain away

My body is engraved,
With the emotions of my heart,
My skin's the story of my soul,
I'm a living work of art.

The words read red and clear,
As more blood starts to flow,
I'm holding on to life right now,
But soon I'll let it go.

What have I got to live for,
But to hack into my skin?
Soon I'll make that final cut,
And end all that's within.
