Where My Heart Lingers Is Where You'll Be Poem by Mark Heathcote

Where My Heart Lingers Is Where You'll Be

Where my heart lingers is where you'll be
Whatever rugged coastline, that also is.
Where my soul pastures with the lamb
That is also where you'll be close to me.

A kindling light, a standard star above the reef
A captain of my heart to steer away the dark
A song of upsurge and ephemeral moonlight
But here in this present moment, what a relief

It is to find a guiding light, a ray of hope
A man who is willing to be sacrificed to die
And in faith and belief rise again for me
And for you to bring us in deliverance to

A rainbow's hew that with wind and rain
Crosses a distant sky under an eternal cloak
We all must, with renewed faith, learn to climb,
Walk a mountain pass through fleeting clouds.

We all must walk on high to the farthest reaches
And never fear the haunted shadows dead reply
Substance and matter will one day fade away
Because we are light, and we are all here to stay.
