Where I'M From Poem by Chi Li

Where I'M From

I'm from the land of the watermelons, where it snows like a blizzard refusing to stop, I'm from a muddy field of watermelons, where crops are like a gift from the heavens.

I moved to the sister city of Moscow, where the roses bloom, I moved to the buildings, where two amazing rivers meet.

I'm now from 'You are slower than slow medicine! ' to 'Go to sleep! ', to tofu and roasted chicken and from plain white rice.

I'm from a game console where virtual adventures meet, I'm from exploring a unknown land and taking down the bad guys.

I'm from a basketball hoop where I try countless times to perfect my shot, I'm from a rotting-leaf tree, wishing one day to have a treehouse.

I'm from the sister city of Moscow, where the roses bloom, I'm from the buildings, where two amazing rivers meet.
