What's Left Poem by sandra lagos

What's Left

Traces of the laughter I once held
And now from my heart, by you is compelled
From my soul tears fall, enough to fill rivers
Each one hurting more, like millions of slivers
Now that you're gone light seems to evade me
Now darkness holds my hand, and I can't break free
It yells, hits, punches, and abuses
Leaving behind throbbing and painful bruises
That tell me to jump, cut or shoot
All of this pain I wish I could dilute
Because each string of my rope slowly tears
And I can't seem to get strength even from prayers
Inside I cry, kick and scream
And I can't visualize happiness even in dreams
So all that is left now is the laughter I once held
That now from my heart and soul, by you is compelled

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

whats left after any horrible experience is trauma and disallussion, whats left is always our determination and endurance to fight even harder and press forward no matter how hard, never give up :)
