What Might Have Been? Poem by Leaking Pen

What Might Have Been?

When life throws me a new bone
And I take it for granted…
Ah the folly of youth and my misadventures ways
Till one day I wake up and realize
How precious that second chance was
And how I lost my footprints
On earth…and I ask the question
“What might have been? ”
When it is too late.

And the worst part of it
When I was given this second chance at life
And as old age is now my reality
And I am still blinded by the
Repetitive follies of my youth
Not realizing a new clean page
-No as in Facebook-
Has been handed to me…
On a silver platter
But unlike a gambler’s odds at winning
1000 to 1 on a slot machine
I burned a sure winning thing
At last chance at true love!
