What If I Had Come Poem by Keenan Lawler

What If I Had Come

Rating: 3.0

what if
I had come
to the other side
of the barbarous
& name-encanyoned
sea
just to stand
in the radiant
shadow
of your breathing
presence?

what if
i had forgotten what
i was
& or would
just be
in the shimmering
surface
of your fire
breasts

heavy with
the honey
of now
I suckle in silence
like a man
reborn
in the wet
folds of
a dream.
