We The People Poem by louis rams

This country was once divided by a civil war and now it's
Being divided by Republicans and Democrats on the
Congressional floor.
We must recreate that inspiration to rebuild this divided nation
Politicians will all be bribed by lobbyists and people of wealth
And forget the public who are in bad health.
The elderly have to decide weather to buy food or their medication
In the worlds richest nation.
Food programs for the children and the elderly is what this country needs
So our people we can feed.
Americans pay the highest prices for medications and have to seek
Lower prices from different nations.
We do not have to be told, that pharmaceutical and arms companies
Are the ones in control.
We the people have to put our feelings aside and stop
The violence, hate and lies.
