We Lie Poem by Mpho Nkadimeng

We Lie

Where we lie
Is a prism of our shadows
Though our souls frayed and bleak
Still thoughts refract like hues of memories
We became an anomaly
When constructs of social ideas lushed
And hushed our bliss to post modern morphologies
Aging us to words left to sleep
Where we lie
Is In the shadows of customs
Abrasive to your footprints
Marking the contours of my identity
When scented by you
Where we lie
Is a lie devouring us to become
And be more of the abyss they fade to
