We Did Meet Poem by Randy McClave

We Did Meet

Whether it was because of joy or regret
There is a reason why you and I first met,
There was a sense why you were there
And there was a propriety why I did stare.
We were just chess pieces on a chess board
You were the Queen, and I was the Lord,
I moved strategically left and then strait ahead
Or maybe I was outsmarted, and I was led.
But, we still met as we both did
Nothing unto each other did we then hid,
Now together we shared a very soulful kiss
You remember that, and I'll remember this.
I once saw the great Eiffel Tower
But, it is not what gives man his loving power,
I hope never to you to ever say goodbye
And maybe that is the only reasoning why.
We met for a soundness which is fact and true
You are now known to me as the Lady in blue,
My life was sad and lonely before we did greet;
And then we did meet.
