We Are In A War We Do Not Want To Be In

WE ARE IN A WAR WE DO NOT WANT TO BE IN (An Israeli Poem – Prayer)

We are in a War we do not want to be in
We fight to survive
And regret when we kill and maim our enemies
Human beings.

We would define ourselves
As walking in the way of God
In compassion
But to survive
We cannot always be kind.

We fight to live
And yet in our souls we regret
And wonder why
We cannot just be at Peace
And give and love and be kind to
Everyone
All our neighbors.

We do not want to die
And we don’t want to kill
We want to live
And we want to love.

May God somehow bring us to true Friendship and Peace
With all of Humanity.
