We Poem by jerry hughes

We

We of the human race do solemnly swear,
we will not perish by nuclear holocaust or
any other wrath.

Our technology is too far advanced
to permit such catastrophes.
We can negate them before they start
because we are the wisest of the wise.

After all, didn't we abandon god?

I'm torn by your piece i understand where your coming from but not completely agreeing with you. This poem has me thinking though... Thanks for sharing. Hugz Coreena

I'm not sure I can agree with you, Jerry. It would seem these days that god-fearing men on both sides are using the certainty of their beliefs to justify the most obscene acts of cruelty imaginable. You're right about the arrogance though - god fearing or godless. A powerful cynical piece. love, Allie xxxx

When WE learn to live with each other as fellow men we will have crossed the first threshold of wisdom. We haven't managed that yet - Godless or not. Rgds, Ivan
