Wake Up To You Poem by Randy McClave

Wake Up To You

Shhhh, she said as her children did sleep
In the two extra bedrooms in my house,
To me on the couch she then slowly did creep
She was as quite as a timid church mouse.
In the master bedroom she was all alone
At least she was when her children were there,
In the house with me, that I did own
She always did say we were the perfect pair.
She tapped me on the shoulder and then I awoke
She then took me by the hand and then she led,
Not one word to me was ever spoke
We then ended up in the master bedroom on the bed.
Her children thought that we were only friends
As we were together all of the time,
All their father's cared only about was their own dividends
While I cared about was true love, and rhyme.
I was the secret that she had held and secretly kept
And no one ever knew anything about me,
So, many times unto God I prayed and I sadly wept
Because she didn't want her friends or family to see.
She then laid her head upon my chest
Then I asked her in the morning what will we say or do,
She said our souls and minds will have their rest
She then whispered in my ear, I want to wake up with you.
