Waiting For Your Last Rebut Poem by Mark Heathcote

Waiting For Your Last Rebut

I kept my heart in cold storage
Only to show you I'm still warm-blooded
But then you displayed a fussy side
And said we don't belong and denied
All my advances, so I took note
Heart sinking like some lead riverboat
Overcharged with raw emotion
I took the lead as a precaution
And wished you—better future luck…
But 3yrs later, I'm still waiting for your last rebut.
