Unfortuntate Waiting Room At Urgent Care Poem by Joe Kelley

Unfortuntate Waiting Room At Urgent Care

Hands rub one and other

Waiting for bad news.

Silent movements,

Mouths chewing away

Tearing at a calloused cheek.

One smiles at relief

News postponing the inevitable.

Lying to relatives

To save one big secret.

Knuckles popping

Heads nodding off,

A sister whispers

Her old mother coughs.

This is a human chop shop.

Somethings wrong,

'We'll get you a shot'.

A pyramid of disaster

Clarification of emergency.

A broken arm

Beats a crushed nose.

Aching stomach

Takes it all.

Cancer,

Ankle,

And broken heart.
