Ulakan
Partly because of the French connection,
the name of the North Pacific fish that is so oily
that it can be dried and used as a candle,
can be spelled in many ways.
The 'ula-' can be uli-,
eula-, oola- and oula-
and the '-kan'
can be -kon, -con, -chon, and -chan.
That candle with its ichthic smell,
the French would call la oulachandelle.
