Twilight Over Malta Poem by Jean Dament

Twilight Over Malta

There's a blazing sunset out on Malta's Gozo Island;
Where golden rays glow like fire in the sky & below upon the sea,
Offering a sweet repose that makes me feel free;
Where the twilight shines on through an open rocky archway;
And the warm winds blow in a soft & gentle way,
With the mists rolling over rough rocks & contrasting with the shoreline of the sand,
Appearing somewhat as a ghostly scene...but all is calm at sea & on the land,
They have created an eerie stairway through this mystic portal;
As if inviting one to venture onward...even brave mortals,
Then as the sun fades into the darkness out of sight,
A cool breeze sets in telling me it's time to leave behind the dark shadows of this night,
But I will forever take with me the memory of this firery scene,
With it's alluring beauty, mellow, warm & serene.
