Turned My Back On Love Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Turned My Back On Love

Wish you look at me as you've did once before
when you've walked away tears would form clouding my eyes expressing what I could not say
wish you talked to me as if there wasn't a rift between us
but you've turned your back on me forever
the loneliness consumes my soul
and i'm filled with regrets that i'm unable to share
Wish we could go back to the first time when things were pleasant
the time before i felt the beat of my heart stop
and i was no longer among the land of the living
I could never put it past me, this pain weighs so heavy
Someday you'll realize just what mistake you've made
I face yet another day here on earth alone
but i'm not the only
you've torn my world in two
Now you mourn because you too experience the lonely
both our broken hearts found solace in a place condeming one another for eternity
the more I hold onto this the more I hurt
I carry this experience as the last time I give love a chance
Love is not meant to be broken down in spirit
torn and hurt
love is meant to lift your spirits
cherishing another who appreciates you for you
accepting you as you are flaws and all
I allowed you into my heart
Believing you were different from all the others
well, didn't you fool me?
in time will i experience what true love feels like
but until then i'm living my life for me
