Tracking Poem by Gert Strydom

Tracking

(for Annelize)

I wish I could follow your tracks
to the true depth of your beautiful heart,
know you intimately in my joy and sorrow
but find your tracks leading away from me.
I pray that you will love me more
even if we both live a thousand miles apart,
even if it feels as if destiny do tempt our love.
More than ever I know: in my life you do belong.
It's everywhere that I find signs of you
as if all of your roads do return to me,
as if you do not really want to go too far away.
To me you are a wild-child and truly beloved,
it's you that leave me speechless and astonished:
when I do not expect it you stand at my side.
