Toboggan Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Toboggan

Toboggan

Yes, it was the same hill,
Very same steep hill
Near the house I lived
With my wife and our kids.

Children slid down
With nothing but on butts,
Some on sheets or in pots.

Tobogganed…

Crazy were the kids, as sounded
And my thoughts were the same.

The words were reflected,
Both the said and the heard.

Shouted the children
As did heart at brain
With echoes of throb!

"They will be angry…"
Said my son, the younger
Of sister, brother and mother:
"…if hear you speak…"

Meaningful was comment,
They want me abandon…

Abandon my blood relatives
And new, old friends…

So, I, too tobogganed
Mentally…
Did not use my body!

Went upward,
Up very steep hill!

Each step dipped in pain
Every word felt like hell!
