To Sleep Poem by Tom Allport

To Sleep

Rating: 4.2

I awoke this morning
To the sound of a ding
And after a quick yawn
I pressed the stopper thing
Peace again I could see
But the thought of work
Kept hitting at me
So a decision I did make
To sleep and think
That I was awake

this is sooooooooo groovy****! ! ! ! **** (definition #2) groov•y ˈɡro͞ovē/ adjective informal dated humorous adjective: groovy; comparative adjective: groovier; superlative adjective: grooviest 1 fashionable and exciting. sporting a groovy new haircut 2 enjoyable and excellent. he played all the remarkably groovy guitar parts himself ====================================== Tom, after i split from my first wife....................1986 ….. i rented a garage-type storage unit. to say the least, it had minimum modern conveniences. yes, i mean i lived in it for a couple of months or so, with no car; i walked to work at a big post office. i kind of enjoyed it. anyway, i worked evenings (or was it nights?): i guess evenings. i had a wind up? alarm clock and slept on the floor on a makeshift bed. I woke up and it was dark; it should NOT have been dark on my way to work. I had apparently turned off the alarm and slept more ………..about 6 or 7 hours more. I got up and, having no phone, I went to work; “better late than never! ! ! ”. The manager was a bit surprised, I think, when I showed up almost at the end of my shift. They had called someone in to replace me, sorting mail. I didn’t get in trouble and I didn’t let it happen again! Your poem to MyPoemList. Bri :)
