'To See The Sea' Poem by NiQi Deveaux

'To See The Sea'

Rating: 4.5

I want to be your compass
When rolling through rough seas
Feeling like your being bashed
Over rocks, brought by the breeze

That started with a snapping
In the sails you set so high
Waves and currents crashing on your bows
Sailing.... But knowing inside you can fly

So let me come and carve a path
Your runway... Leave that ship
I've got your wings hung at my side
They don't put weight upon my hips

So light and feathery, white as snow
Never opened to the winds
I'll pass them to your waiting hands
Get ready, let's begin

I watch you from the eagle's nest
Running cross a sinking boat
I know your the eagle I would see
Though all you hope to do is float

Come then sweetheart and drop your tar
There's no patching to be done
Your an angel though, you still don't know
Bright and shining as the sun

If you knew the rest of that you are
Other than this earthy feeling you hold tight
Is only there to help you grow
There's really no struggle or fight

Your better than you know you are
I can see it shining through
The silly veil that humans think
Is all... I wish you knew

That you really look like magic dust
Perforating space and time
No matter what hell you go through
I'm happy you are mine

I'll be your mast, your anchor still
You sails or even be
The shores you find yourself scrambling for
So that you can be free

You'll set your heart ablaze with love
For every single thing
When this sea so rough has passed and you
Like the bird you are.... Just sing
