'The Flame' Poem by NiQi Deveaux

'The Flame'

A single touch from you
Makes my knees go weak
Your lips are like satin
Falling on my cheek

Now I'm lost for words
Since you stole my breath
It is so easy for me
To forget all the rest

From a spark to a flame
Touched by lady luck
You picked up a match
That's never been struck

Embers flicker in the dark
Threatening to be
The end of the darkness
Where I can not see

So sacred, so cherished
You're a gift so divine
I'll hold you so high
As long as you're mine

I need you, I crave you
Want to be in your space
As i brush my fingers
Across your sweet face

When you're gone i can't think
I long for your soul
You fill empty places
Where I've been so cold

So, sweet one, please hear
As my heart softly speaks
To yours in a place
Where only we meet

Cause you are the one
The only you see
I have your hearts desire
Every single piece of me
