To My Friend Poem by Mackenzie Unger

To My Friend

I close my eyes and look through the glass,
A tear falls down my cheek, dark and crass.

What happened to that magical laugh I could never hate,
My tears mock me in the injustice of fate.

I cry for the friend, who made fantasy life,
A story teller of love and strife.

A life not yet fully lived, with a gift never to be shared,
When it was gone, to see how few cared.

The anger of resentment and the tears of sorrow.
What should we do if we aren't promised tomorrow?

Cry out for the lost but keep living, I'm told.
But in time those we love, we still must hold.

Must some grow while others disappear?
Life is going by so fast. Too late for fear.

My cry is for the others, who didn't know her.
They missed the story told true and sure.

May her soul be free for eternity.
In heaven they may hear a story.

From you it is a gift of happiness.
I cry for the loss, but not in sadness.

May God be your best friend.
I'll see you in the end.
