Hope's Battle Poem by Mackenzie Unger

Hope's Battle

A dragon flies overhead
There is a loud yell in the distance
I hide in this forest
Hoping no one will find me
Hoping no one will arrest me.

I hear a crunch of leaves behind me
I dive behind the nearest tree
'I am a friend.' It calls
'You did not start this war.'
I see a shadow

It has the head of an eagle and the back of a lion
'I am a griffon.'
I peek at the creature.
It smiles at me.
It is beautiful

'come I will take you to safety.'
I crawl out from hiding.
I stand up and look at the magnificent creature
'I did not start the war'
'I know.'

'It was a accident.'
'I know.'
'How was i suppose to know this would happen.'
'You weren't.
They just needed some one to blame.'

'They tricked me.'
'They did.'
'Who are you.'
'King Clargon.'
'Why are you here.'

'You may not have started this war.
but we need your help to finish it.'
With that I climbed onto his back.
We soared over the clouds way from the battle.
Off on an adventure I had seen somewhere before.

I was both prepared and unprepared for what was to come.
For many futures lay ahead.
If friends unite to lay evil to rest or not,
Bless them for their struggles will be an adventure for all.
