To Heal Poem by Dana Lamb

To Heal

Pain is a way to heal
My old self materializing
Within my reach
And I let it go
Every beat of
My hear reverberating
With dull ache
Every breath I take
Stifling
I will forget myself tomorrow
And get lost in new things
And knock on so many doors
But now it’s time to eat ashes
Time to shed tears and mourn
Time to say good-bye to the past
Leave it behind
Old beliefs, delusions
Are mere shadows now
Tears falling
Like drops of blood
I heal

Being able to see what others may ignore or pass by indifferently—to see healing in pain and smiles behind tears, is what makes this poem unique and full of life.

That's wonderful.. That's so true, too. Healing often requires pain.
