A Cat Poem by Dana Lamb

A Cat

I see a cat
In the pouring rain
Making its way
Through the pools of mud
Alone in the whole world
Abandoned
Soaked through
No place to hide
Like a victim of abuse
I thought
My senses died
I thought I was safely
Entombed
In indifference
Past caring
Past compassion
But this little thing
In the merciless
Self-complacent
Busy world
My heart goes out to it
I wish I could be
The protector of all cats
I make a vow
Never hurt a human being
I know how it feels
All too well

'Past caring, Past compassion' None of us should be past these, even if we hurt... Lovely poem, , , Colin J...
