To Destruction They Go Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

To Destruction They Go

They say every land and country is theirs
And they have come boldly to liberate
Their captive people from this world's affairs
Theirs is the one law which none can negate.

Such belief is hard to rationalize,
Where there's Oppression there is Unrest.
The Conflict's in the mind, we must realize-
They are quick to blame it all on the West

A people so driven by religion and slogans
Can fight with the fiercest of human passion.
They're misguided souls led to slaughter by guns
Blinded, unseeing, the real cause is their nation!

I have seen how history records Lust for Power,
It's the venom that pollutes those who fight.
Makes men so drunk they are lost in its stupor
Their ways are grayed and they can't see right.

No one can occupy and rule all this earth,
The world is not made up submissive prey.
It's a fallacy to think a people has that worth
To own every land, every nation, as they may.

They may fight in their lands, free their people.
That is the only law of nature we know.
But to claim the whole world, they will not be able
Those who teach them such, to Destruction they go.
