To All My Non- Readers Poem by Shalom Freedman

To All My Non- Readers

The universe is rich
In billions of my non- readers
Every person who has ever lived
And everyone living now
Qualifies

Earlier today
I was angry at you all
I even cursed some of you
For reading other things
Now I am calm
I don't mind you existing
And being who you are
You don't need me and my work
And I don't need you
Fair enough

So be what you are forever
Continue to non- read
And I will continue here
For a few more years
Living my own delusion
Writing on and on and on
As if it could mean something to someone
Beside myself and myself and myself

TO ALL MY NON- READERS

The universe is rich
In billions of my non- readers
Every person who has ever lived
And everyone living now
Qualifies

Earlier today
I was angry at you all
I even cursed some of you
For reading other things
Now I am calm
I don't mind you existing
And being who you are
You don't need me and my work
And I don't need you
Fair enough

So be what you are forever
Continue to non- read
And I will continue here
For a few more years
Living my own delusion
Writing on and on and on
As if it could mean something to someone
Beside myself and myself and myself

When the pain goes away
Happiness begins again
It may seem like nothing
But life without pain
Gives Hope
‘It is going to be alright somehow'
