Thought Out And Blue Poem by Britt Veloso

Thought Out And Blue

We were the bruised and the battered
Running free as life shattered
All ran away to go explore life and play
We'd never pray to any God
No one was there cause we had to engrave
Our names in stone and granite
We trashed houses like they were already wrecked.
They mimicked the marriages that were old and inept
We kissed our bruises and hoped for the best
We bought new dresses and nearly never slept
The old and the new blended so well in our heads
We couldn't see that we were dwindling dead
Naivety and booze laid over us like ice
We wanted the slush of the drink and the rape of the night
The day turned over and wept with us in the sun
We sinned and we knew that it was so dumb
We ran away to conformity after the fight
Splashed with no fortune and boys will no sight
It was time to grow up and find new ways to live
We're still missing in the bushes looking for this
