They say that you have to give up past loves before a new love is born
They say you must clear away all the hurt and look to the dawn
They say you never will find someone waiting to lie in your arms
Till the old love is gone and the path to your heart
Is open and free for the one.

They say its much easier said than is done and I know that cliché is true
To sweep away my memories and past that is filled with longing for you
But I know that holding on tight to a past, be it happy or not
Will never free my heart for the future
But that’s all that Iv’e got

So here’s me waving goodbye to the ships that already sailed
And leaving the past in the past where the tides have already turned
Saying farewell to the sunset and waiting a while for the dawn
Oh though the night closes in
I’m hopeful and willing to learn.
