There Are Certain Valleys I Know Poem by Colter Castillo

There Are Certain Valleys I Know

There are certain valleys I know
Ones with the pinecrest shaded peaks
Blanketing caps of white limestone
These things I know are pure today
For better or for worse in time
Straddling the thinning line

There are certain valleys I know
That rise so high to Gabriel's door
And leaves the shadowed creatures low
These things I know are pure today
For better or for worse in time
Soaking eyes towards the sublime

There are certain valleys I know
Great men have charted on their maps
And honed great fables time will grow
These things I know are pure today
For better or for worse in time
Edging skies past the dasein

There are certain valleys I know
Wandering through silent hills
Where even echos cease to flow
These things I know are pure today
For better or for worse in time
Memories left in pantomime

Love is the greatest thing
We can fall for or falter with
With flashes razed in hearts and minds
Passing phrases fleeting signs
To harness this light in youth is might
To slay all the dragons
And ride into the heat
To never see the creeping edge
Of tomorrow's defeat

There are certain valleys I know
That thin themselves toward the divide
And never see the other side
And this is mine
