The You You'Ve Never Shown Poem by A. P. Hancock

The You You'Ve Never Shown

Come leave it all for just a while, and close your eyes to dream
Paint a place where life abounds, a you where joy's the theme

Create a place far far away, or one that looks like home
Perhaps a sweet aroma field, where tiger lilies roam

Draw a quiet peaceful scene, where golden silence reigns
Or sketch a bright exciting spot, that breaks the dulling chains

Picture a view that takes the breath, and fills the soul with awe
Imagine a warm inviting place, that makes the cold heart thaw

Don't forget to add a touch, of dance and shout and sing
And brush on just a stroke or two, of some familiar thing

Finally, begin to think, in special shades and hues
Prepare to paint a masterpiece, the rare exotic you

Color the you that's hidden deep, that lives behind the mask
Color the you that gains release, from all the grinding tasks

Color the you that's free and bold, the you that none have known
Then wake yourself and let them see, the you you've never shown
