The Wings Of The Wind Poem by Mark Hopwood

The Wings Of The Wind

I saw it dancing on the wings of the wind
I heard the screams in the bitter night
It swirled for a while then landed and it sunk right in
Sank in on the wings of the wind in the night.

Don't look up the light is blinding
Staring into the wings of the wind
People in dispare stand up for the lining
As they wait in the wings of the wind for the landing.

Silver lights beam onto horrified eyes
Surrounded by sorrow, confusion and disbelieving cries
As the people in power get taken in by the lies
And all hope fades away and dies.

When justice lives on the inside of a vacuum flask
And the power mad faceless suits cover the light
People walking the streets in clinging face masks
And try to merge in with the night.

Feel the heat, smell the stench
Touch the light
As dreams die in the night.

Dancing with death as your eyes burn away
You limbs go weak as they point at you
Now everyone knows there'll never be a new day
And there's not a f**kin thing anyone can do.

I saw it dancing on the wings of the wind
I heard the screams in the death of the night
It swirled for a while then landed and it sunk right in
Sank in the wings of the wind, then the landing begins.
The beginning of the end.
