The Wild Dogs Poem by Timothy muggaga

The Wild Dogs

They are here
where winds of hope stir
but they are here to tear
not to serve hope but despair

The wild dogs licking
with their tongues dripping
and with their legs limping
in terror seething
all the children leaving

claws of greed tearing
into the womb of the nation
canines of power biting
into the foundations of our heritage
growls of shame lingering
in the hearts of our leaders

so wild but for a while
where power corrupts absolutely
so foreign but not forever
we pray they come back home
to share our plight; and lead the fight
