The Violent Storm Poem by Tim Vallie

The Violent Storm

Lightning rips apart the sky
In the distance thunder crashes
The wind howls its battle cry
As against the wall it smashes
The storm it shrieks and screams
As the rain pounds on the roof
I can hear it in my very dreams
As if trampled 'neath stallions hoof
The walls do shake and shiver
As the thunder booms o'er head
Beneath the sheets I quiver
Am I safe within my bed?
The storm grows ever stronger
With every flash and roar
Must I endure this for much longer?
As the wind pounds at my door?
The storm threatens, harasses
Throughout much of the night
Then suddenly it passes
In it's wake comes pale moonlight
Gone the storm so violent
As I slowly drift to sleep
Suddenly the sky is silent
And the silence fills me deep
