The Unfortunates Poem by Daniel P Martin

The Unfortunates

Rating: 5.0

Society becomes increasingly diversified,
The contrast becomes starker with every news report.
Riches to the rich, and calories to the fat,
While the world’s unfortunates fall endlessly short.

Humanity prompts a damming effort,
A pseudo wall of love and compassion is built,
Only the unfortunates can fully appreciate the irony,
Of the rich and greedy, evoking the guilt.

Devoid of alternative, they accept the dowry,
The union of their need with the “patronising” benefit,
And so “civilised” society can rest its mind,
Bless, their cotton socks, but I’ve done my bit.

But alas, what to do, how to resolve, how to fix,
Answers? Well this is the enigma we face.
In-equity, disparity, diversity in life,
Have characterised the age of the whole human race.

Perhaps, and just maybe, there is no great answer,
No all embracing solution to placate and reassure
And perhaps, after all, that’s the way it must be,
Survival of the fittest, and no magic cure.

You are not alone, maybe many people have those questions and many also have the answer but they are helpless.. Your poem speaks great truth.. Most of people of this world just strugle to survive..While those who live on poor's back day by day becoming fat.. But no, the answer is not a revolution of violence but one of love.. maybe..who am I to know? Thank you for share,10
