How wonderful
she said
You're 85.
What a long life.
Long...yes.
I'm a survivor
and my body
aches a lot.
My mind only
works fitfully
and one thing
she should understand.
Being a survivor
I had to see
a generation
vanish around me.
Family and friends
all departed
to the great
unknown forever.
I am still
here but
at what
an emotional price.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
a touching poem indeed. it reminds me of Thomas Moore's poem Oft in the Stilly Night.
